SAMSUNG 850 EVO 500GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-75E500B/AM)

Pros: Great Speed Cheap Speed Reliable Cons: Its not the PRO? If you dont want to speed the money on the pro version... waste no more time and just get this EVO its great and very fast.

The hard drive is great, but the Samsung cloning software that came with it was thoroughly useless. I spent about 4 days trying to get that Samsung cloning software to work till finally, on the advice of a friend, I went to download.com and got EaseUS cloning software, which actually worked.

Replaced my old mechanical hard drive with the Samsung solid state unit. The swap was a bit of a challenge as I have never done anything lije this before but Samsung provided all the info and guidance needed to complete the job with minimum difficulty. And the difference this solid srate drives makes! Wheras my computers avarage boot time from full off used to take about 1 to almost 1 1/2 minutes it is now leass than 30 seconds tops. I do notice an improvement in accessing data stored on the solid state drive although I cant say with any certainty how much of an imprivement there is. To me the rapid boot time is the biggest advantage plus you never have to perform a defrag operation on a solid state drive.

I look forward to the day when I can buy a 14TB SSD for the same price I can purchase a spindle drive of that size but for a boot drive these are great.

Again, This is the 3rd or 4th Samsung SSD I have bought from Amazon. All came in the 2-day prime period and each one has worked perfectly out-of-the-box. In my opinion Samsung is one of the best brands around/ I have used a 500GIG on my Desktop and two 250 GIGS on two ACER netbooks. All have worked perfectly. The speed increase is not short of amazing on boot-up. The ACERS were Win 7 Machines. They are Aspire V-5 models. One was a bit newer than the other. (A bit more original memory and a slightly faster processor.) Both have 11 inch screens. I think the best thing you can do with a computer that has older style HHDs is to replace with a new SSD. They are still a bit pricy. However, on you have made the switch, you will never want to go back. Final thoughts. I havent notice any significant difference between the older 420 and the newer 850. Both will definitely do the job. Finally-- be sure and disable defrag on Windows and any third-party programs. Its not needed. Enabling it can significantly shorten the life of your drives.

Excellent product. Delivers everything it says it can deliver. This is the one to get. Simple to install, setup and run. I have nothing but good things to say about the Samsung 850 EVO sad.

Took several tries to install Win 7 Ult. on it for some reason. (on an older board). However, once it got going, it was definitely worth it. I did the fresh install instead of copying the old HD. However, it seems a little slower on Win 10 on boot. Its been running for a couple of weeks and no problems so far. I would definitely buy it again. A fast HD and more ram is the best way to increase the speed of any computer. I grabbed a new board to take advantage of the speed of the 6G version but waiting on the new proc, HSF, and ram to test out the full speed. Hey, Amazon, its been almost a week my order has been on preparing to ship, get going! A great value for the price.

I had my doubts but the supply software cloned the drive and installed in less than an hour and its like having a brand-new PC faster than you can even imagine. All I can say is why this before you buy a new computer,,,,,! Be sure to download the latest windows 10 compatible cloning software from the Samsung site if you are cloning from a windows 10 computer.
