I am disappointed by this drive. The first thing I did once I got it was to duplicate an old, spinning drive, from my notebook. Everything worked fine for several weeks and then it just failed. I tried several times to re-mirror my old drive, which luckily I still had, but it never worked. In the end I tried performing a full re-format and then applying the mirror. That worked and so far so good but it has only been a week. Now I carry my old drive and a screwdriver with me in case this drive fails while I am on the road. If it was not so much faster there is no way I would run the risk. Update - This drive failed again on me. I have given up trying to reformat and reclone it for my notebook.

Probably one of the most amazing purchases Ive ever made in my life! Not only will you NOT find this SSD at a better price anywhere else, but with its NVAND technology, its basically one of the best SSDs on the market right now. Ive now had it in my mid-2009 MacBook Pro for 2 weeks and its been quite a joy. Everything loads blazingly fast and my computer stays a whole lot cooler since its drawing much less power than my old HHD I had in it. Boot-up time has gone from 1:45 to 17 seconds!!!! I couldnt be happier with this product! Im telling you.... if youre looking to upgrade your older lap-top from an HHD to an SSD, look no further... this is it! Thank you so much!

Awesome product and price point. It works in my mid 2009 MacBook Pro without issue. I cant get the high speed transfer rate because of the bus speed in my Mac but the price for the lower speed drive was more expensive. I can continue to use it if I decide to upgrade my hardware

I upgraded my HP Pavilion dm4 that I bought new in 2010 with 500gb HDD and 4gm RAM. After installing the new 500gb SSD, I also increased RAM to 8gb, the max for my laptop. I reinstalled Windows 10 and replaced the worn out battery. My 6 yr old laptop is like new again! I no longer have issues with slow load times, freezing programs, and unresponsive internet tabs. Im not very tech-savvy and yet I found this upgrade easy to complete in a timely fashion. After installing the disc and plugging in the new SSD to USB port, I followed the prompts for data migration, which copied the data from my old HDD to the new SSD. Then I swapped old HDD for new SSD into the laptop and ran the Samsung Magician software, also included on the disc with the new SSD. The Samsung SSD does come with cloning software, but not a cable for the drive. The Samsung Magician software is nice to interrogate the read/write speeds of all drives, including the old HDD once removed. After installing the new SSD and upgraded RAM, I interrogated the drives. The read/write speeds of the drives were as follows: Old 500gb HDD: Seq Read: 19 MB/s Seq Write: 23 MB/s Random Read: 111 IOPS Random Write: 213 IOPS Samsung 500gb SSD: Seq Read: 268 MB/s Seq Write: 255 MB/s Random Read: 46525 IOPS Random Write: 43658 IOPS Overall, very pleased with the upgrade. I bought a cheap (~$12) case to store my old HDD, which came with a cable, so now I have 500gb external hard drive to backup documents. If youre looking to improve the performance of your laptop without spending a ton of money, this is a great investment and does not require much computer knowledge. UPDATE: I initially was not able to utilize Rapid Mode with Windows 10. I uninstalled the magician software that came on the installation disc and reinstalled a newer version from the Samsung website and am now able to use rapid mode. Rapid Mode is blazing fast, with sequential read speed of 3,126MB/s (268 w/ rapid mode off) and seq write speed of 2,635MB/s (255 w/ rapid mode off).

As for SATA connected drives, this is almost as good as it gets. If I were to get another SATA SSD, Id get the 860 Pro, but this is still running strong. I keep it as my Linux drive, while Ive got a 1TB Samsung 970 EVO as my Windows gaming drive.

Fantastic increase in boot time and general usability. Only small problem was that I ran into RAM issues, I suppose due to the fact that my old platter was being used as virtual memory to a great extent.

I bought this part for my 16 year old Grandson. He loves it, says it made a world of difference in the speed and available space on his computer!

Samsungs excellent quality continues, a good price for a lot of storage. I use these drives on my laptops and as scratch drives on my video processing desktop.

Bought this to upgrade my 2012 Toshiba laptop from a HDD to SSD. My old computer went from taking 20 minutes to open any program to less than 10 seconds. I even run CAD programs on it with pretty much no lag! It took my once really nice but now completely unusable old laptop to a reasonable computer again (granted the graphics card and other things are still old, but still, it works). Also I followed the instructions for transferring data and everything and it worked pretty smoothly.
