Had my 2TB WDD drive make clicking noises but the scan showed it was fine. Went ahead and moved stuff off of it but needed more space for games so I went ahead and got this. I run my pc off another SSD and wanted a no noise storage in my computer so this was my first choice.

The 840 EVO SSDs used to be the best bang for your buck, now its these 850 EVO SSDs. Look no further if you want a fantastic SATA SSD and dont bother buying one with a capacity of less than 500GB.

Fast, easy to install, so far reliable 500 gigabyte SSD. You can probably get away with a 250 or even a 120 gigabyte SSD for Windows 10, MS Office and a few other programs.

Upgrade my iMac with this SSD. Now my iMac boots up within 5 seconds. The one thing this drive does not have is a thermal socket. There is a thermal socket on the iMac hard drive. So when I replaced it with this drive, there was no socket for me to connect the thermal wire to. So I shorted the thermal wire by connecting the two thermal wire together and wrap the connection with the electrical tape. It works but not ideal.

I wanted to speed up my laptop a bit without going to the expense of a newer one. I installed a Samsung 840 in my desktop and was quite pleased with it. I had read there was some difficulty installing one of these in a Toshiba Satellite, but decided to give it a try anyway. I used Macrium cloning software to transfer the info to the new SSD.. It wouldnt recognize the SSD! I then decided to try Samsungs data migration software. The reason I didnt try it initially was due to my experience with the 840 the software was s-l-o-w! I put the original HD back in, connected the SSD to the computer, reformatted it, and 45 minutes later the drive was cloned. Once re-installed it booted up in seconds as opposed to minutes. Everything works perfectly and much faster... I highly recommend this SSD, and the warranty is excellent...

bought this drive to bring some life to an older laptop. which it definitely did. the drive is great and runs fast. made a night and day difference to my laptop and also brought some reliability back to my old work horse. cloning my existing drive to the new Samsung SSD was so way easier then i ever thought it would be. all the software you need is included and doesnt take a computer master to run.

Installed in my older Powerbook and now the laptop performs amazingly. Saved me from having to buy a new Powerbook. Only complaint is that it did not come with installation software for the Mac.

Great drive for the price. I put one of these into my wifes MacBook Pro (mid 2012 model) and the speed increase is unreal. Absolutely worth it.

I installed this drive in my early 2011 MacBook Pro 13 and love the improvement. I have been really happy with my computer until the coming of Apples latest OSX. This was part of a three phase refresh process for my MacBook. I made the mistake of installing the free Yosemite OSX on my MacBook. Yosemite brought my MacBook to its knees. I ended up backing up my files and starting all over. I installed OSX Lion as my operating system, I upgraded the RAM from 4 GB to 8 GB, and I replaced the hard drive with the Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD. My computer is used primarily for Microsoft Office software. I love the way the computer performs now and would do all of these upgrades again.

It is wondrous to experience how fast a PC becomes when running the OS and applications off an SSD, as opposed to a traditional mechanical drive. When last I looked at these devices, the storage was laughable and the price ridiculous. Now they are priced to appeal to a broader audience, and are pushing deep into mainstream computing. Theyre still expensive when you pause to consider that you could get a 4 TB mechanical drive for the same price. However, the speed is something to behold, and its not just boot times that are affected—although that will be one of the more obvious benefits first observed. Any application running off an SSD will perform faster. I was impressed enough to buy two for my last build. The Samsung drives are highly regarded, with outstanding test performance.
