I use this chain to lock up my mountain bike. I dont have any worries about anyone cutting through it (without power tools). Although realize this is not a very portable chain. Id be hard pressed to put it on my bike and take it anywhere, unless I was in a high-crime area.

I use this to lock up my new Ebike I named her Alice as in Alice In Chains. She is locked up with two of these heavy duty security chains and 4 locks. Security is also backed up by the security camera system, alarm system, and a Glock 9 for safe keeping. Cheers

Ive had cables cut and bikes and other equipment stolen with simple bolt cutters. Not with one of these! This is a serious chain that would probably take an acetylene torch to cut so dont loose your key. I especially like the way that this has a loop (or noose) on one end which allows you to use the full length of the chain. One down side is that its very heavy so take that into consideration. Get a long one and a short one. A single long Schlage can easily lock several bicycles or motorcycles, while a shorter Schlage is easier and lighter to transport.

This security chain is massive and heavy. I bought this to secure items at our RV when we are away from camp. Nothing is theft proof, but this chain will require them to spend a lot of time and make a lot of noise. And noise will wake up my two guard dogs, Smith and Wesson. Their bark is almost as bad as their bite!!! The chain is triple heat treated, 1/2 inch hexagonal sided links, and is made with manganese steel. The hexagonal links thwart bolt cutters as well as the extra strength from heat treating. And manganese steel is resistant to abrasive cutoff wheels. It can be cut, but time and speed are a thieves enemy (along with my two dogs, Smith and Wesson).

PLEASE TO NOTE: I bought this chain to protect my bicycle. never used it to secure the bicycle because it was far too heavy to carry around without a porter or a llama. why would I buy such a massively heavy chain for a bicycle??? because the product description dropped a fat lie with a 5 pound product weight claim. I thought it was some wonder alloy. its not. Its just steel with manganese added probably for corrosion resistance, not for weight reduction. [yeah I know it was just an honest mistake by the person who listed the item, maybe its the actual weight of the 33 version, yada yada yada. I just know that honest errors are frequently made on amazon product description and oddly, all of them seem to favor the vendor or make the product appear better than it is. just sayin.] Take a look at my photo and tell me that looks like a 5 pound weight-class chain. (no thats not a mini beer can thats a regular 12 ounce Ballast Point.) THE CHAIN WEIGHS 10.5 POUNDS and thats without a lock. so if you go beefy on the lock plan on carting around 11-12 pounds, which is probably over the limit of even most motorcycle cases and bags, let alone bicycle racks. I stand by my earlier review (cblo), it is indeed a good chain to secure things on your patio or in your garage. but I knocked off two stars for the item description presenting alternative facts in the weight department. ======================= Massive links make thieves move right on past it....they will find easier prey somewhere else. the chain is THAT distinctive. I paired it with an Assa Abloy Enforcer 341 with a fully exposed shackle - just dont get the shrouded shackle model, Im sure only one fat link will fit through the shackle and still close. you will need to be able to grab two links with the lock. buy the chain and maybe go to a locksmith and get the right size lock.

This is a very high quality product. The links are totally impervious to a hacksaw and file, and 15 seconds of angle grinding only made the most minor of abrasions. I bought this for chaining a small safe to my steel bed frame to make it harder to walk off. Sawing apart the steel bed frame will definitely now be the easiest way to walk away with my safe. The cinch ring is a great feature. The chain is honestly way overkill for my task but I couldnt find a smaller chain with the cinch ring, which I wanted. Cyclists: Get a smaller chain... this is way too hefty for your purposes. Would be good for motorcycles in very high-risk areas.

Very strong chain for all but the most insecure settings or expensive bicycles. Beyond this, you want to spend at least 3x the price to get much more. This is definitely a good $60 chain, balancing decent thickness with marvelous length and convenience that allows you to lock any large bicycle to even a telephone pole.

Works amazing for locking up my Honda ruckus moped. Paired it with a kryptonite u lock and couldn’t be happier. The only downfall is the size and weight. I probably wouldn’t use it with a bicycle unless I had some serious storage capabilities. Fits great in my under seat bag on the moped.

A substantial chain with just about the right length for reasonable situations. BIG DOWNSIDE: the sheath is not long enough and will scrape the crap out of your bike. My bike is for transportation and it is brand new so I dont really care, but you might want to look into getting some sort of supplemental sheath. The cinch link is great- let you maximize the length and simplifies locking. I think this is a great lock to go with it... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00004Y8CA/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_34
