Greater than one weekAfter researching bicycle locks, chain reviews and bike theft videos, being on my 4th bike, living in NYC. Im happy to own this chain now. Its not too heavy, its what is needed to prevent it from being able to get clipped. Plus I got some exercise being able to do some bicep curls after unwrapping it. Along with the chain I got the Kryptonite Evolution Series 4 Bicycle Disc Bike Lock and feel my bicycles safe. Of course its important also where exactly and how to lock the bike. Theres still the seat and front wheel to consider. Perhaps another U-lock for the front-wheel.

> 3 dayJust as advertised. Its a nice heavy chain. My shed is in the back of the yard, I use it to chain my snowblower up on my back deck so I dont have to drag it through the (snow-covered) yard every time I need to clean off the driveway. The cover is nice as well. It will help keep the chain from damaging what you are trying to protect.

> 3 dayOne star removed because the round link is awkward to pull links through and its a bit overpriced. Aside from that, its pretty formidable. Its a bit too heavy for bikes, so if youre biking with it youll want a bike frame bag to store it, and it works especially well with a 2-inch shackle round body padlock because you can fit an end link and a body link inside it nice and tightly without removing the sleeve (I use a Master Lock M930XKADLH, but any similar lock should work)

> 3 dayIf a thief wants something bad enough, he’ll be prepared enough to get past any security so I look at this as a theft deterrent but a darn great one! A thief is going to look for the weakest place of entry & this chain ain’t it. I combined it with a super high quality lock with a low, well protected shackle, giving no room for bolt cutters. I have a long & shorter version of this chain & love the cinch ring - it works great for my purposes. I watched demos online of people trying bolt cutters on it & it passed the test easily. I used to cut rebar way back when with high quality bolt cutters & this chain would be a female dog to cut! If a thief wants it he’ll have to torch it off.

> 3 dayUsed this chain to secure my spare tire/rim in the bed of my truck. The sheath is really thick therefore, it wont rub through or cause damage to my rim. The chain is 1/2 thick and gives me peace of mind when my truck is parked. The chain is really heavy duty and I recommend it for anything that you are trying to secure. Especially if your into overkill security. 10/10

> 3 dayWow! Ive got to lock my bike unattended in a basement common garage. Now that Ive got this chain (and a very heavy duty disc lock), I have no worries leaving my bike alone in the garage. The cinch loop is surprisingly helpful, as it allows me to stretch out the chain a bit from the wall, looping the cinched end through my frame and wheel and locking the other end to a concrete wall anchor with the lock. Note: this is a very heavy chain, so itll be a workout if you want to carry it around instead of just leaving it locked in place.

> 3 dayAs a point of reference, this lock is so heavy that it destroyed the box it came in. While Im using it to lock up a small motorcycle, Im sure it would also serve to secure a bicycle, a moped, a jet-ski, or nuclear launch codes. Its so heavy that you may not need to actually secure it to a post, thieves will just look at its massive links and despair. I bought this because of the noose portion which allows me to secure the motorcycle to objects that are further away when compared to a chain that doesnt have that feature. On a more serious note, I appreciate the nylon sleeve that helps to keep this from scratching things its attached to.

Greater than one weekHoly crap this thing is huge. Definitely not something for a bicycle ride... Maybe a motorcycle or leaving at home to lock overnight. I bet you could lock your whatever in the worst neighborhood in Russia and they wouldnt touch this chain. The week link would be the lock or whatever your locking it to. I have returned it due to its weight and size. I have no use for this as its just too much security and not light enough to bike with.

> 3 dayPLEASE TO NOTE: I bought this chain to protect my bicycle. never used it to secure the bicycle because it was far too heavy to carry around without a porter or a llama. why would I buy such a massively heavy chain for a bicycle??? because the product description dropped a fat lie with a 5 pound product weight claim. I thought it was some wonder alloy. its not. Its just steel with manganese added probably for corrosion resistance, not for weight reduction. [yeah I know it was just an honest mistake by the person who listed the item, maybe its the actual weight of the 33 version, yada yada yada. I just know that honest errors are frequently made on amazon product description and oddly, all of them seem to favor the vendor or make the product appear better than it is. just sayin.] Take a look at my photo and tell me that looks like a 5 pound weight-class chain. (no thats not a mini beer can thats a regular 12 ounce Ballast Point.) THE CHAIN WEIGHS 10.5 POUNDS and thats without a lock. so if you go beefy on the lock plan on carting around 11-12 pounds, which is probably over the limit of even most motorcycle cases and bags, let alone bicycle racks. I stand by my earlier review (cblo), it is indeed a good chain to secure things on your patio or in your garage. but I knocked off two stars for the item description presenting alternative facts in the weight department. ======================= Massive links make thieves move right on past it....they will find easier prey somewhere else. the chain is THAT distinctive. I paired it with an Assa Abloy Enforcer 341 with a fully exposed shackle - just dont get the shrouded shackle model, Im sure only one fat link will fit through the shackle and still close. you will need to be able to grab two links with the lock. buy the chain and maybe go to a locksmith and get the right size lock.

> 3 dayI returned defective ABUS chains which do not have elongated end link and get two of these so I can USE my ABUS shrouded locks. I deduct a point since they do not make chain longer than 5ft so I will have to buy two and weld together.
