Ive owned the first generation alarm system since 2016 and have never signed up for the monitoring service. If youre tech-savvy and patient, it could be worth investing in this system only because of the price point. The system itself has worked for the most part throughout the years. Random, un-explainable errors pop up from time to time saying the panic button is not responding, even though the panic button works. The process to update the settings is a nightmare... for such a simple process, it always seems to take a couple hours because the USB takes forever to load the settings and its very frustrating. My USB was recently deemed defective (after speaking to 3 customer service reps) Its been over a month and Im still waiting on the replacement. Customer service/ tech support with this company is absolutely terrible and I couldnt imagine paying them to monitor my security. If you want to have a monitoring service, arent patient or tech savvy, I recommend you look for a different product.

Super easy to install.

I have a hard wired system. One zones contact is faulty and was tripping the siren, so I bypassed it. My alarm company needed to come inside, which I wouldn.t allow at this time, although I offered them easy access to the contact. Then a second zone had a faulty contact, tripping the siren, and the alarm company did not call me back after I left a rather frantic message Now, I am bypassing two zones. . Both siren episodes happened at night during sleep. The siren is outrageously loud. Decided to get this system, which arrived in one day, to protect the two zones. Setting up is not hard at all. There is a countdown if you accidentally open a door or window accidentally, if armed. Something that I have not seen mentioned; I called customer service twice with some questions, and got prompt pickups, and great help. My experience has been very good thus far, and I am less dependent on my hard wired alarm company. If more hard wired sensors dont perform, I can add sensors to this product as necessary.

Ive had a Simplisafe (SS3) system (with 10 entry sensors, 2 motion sensors, 2 external sirens, both smoke and CO2 detectors, 2 keypads and a panic button) since the new system was released and have absolutely raved about it. When I was offered this system to review, I jumped on it immediately as I wanted one for the second house. Setup is dead simple and everything paired up perfectly. I have the $24.99/mo monitoring on both systems and really enjoy being able to control both through the app. (Although I DO wish you didnt have to pay more for app usage). I have mine connected to both cell and WiFi and love the fact that if WiFi is down (or the keypad is destroyed) the alarm still functions. There is one thing I HIGHLY recommend getting with ANY Simplisafe you purchase--an external siren. The one included in the base station is honestly not loud enough. That being said, its enough to alert an intruder that you have an alarm, and by the time the siren is sounding, (if you have monitoring enabled) the police have already been called. So, not a huge deal. But an extra siren will definitely make an intruder exit post haste. A GREAT system.

This was an easy installation and any updates the keypad and tower update.
