07-04-2025This product is sold as an alternative to traditional monitoring systems. The system itself seems to be straight forward. HOWEVER, be forewarned, this company has horrible Customer Service and they will push you to use their preferred affiliate HelloTech to install. SimpliSafe and HelloTech will say pleasant words and whisper sweet nothins in your ears to make you feel special and treated with great care but it is in fact... nothing. Though it is advertised as easy install and activation. The install is easy but the activation is not. When you initiate the activation per their instructions, via a web browser, it will tell you it takes 15 minutes. What they wont tell you is the process fails... repeatedly. You will spend hours watching it do the 15 minutes and then reset. You can also try to use their app to complete the activation, however, it will tell you to Place Base Station in Central Area of your home with a Next button below. You click Next and it does nothing. The button will actually indicate you pressed but the app doesnt proceed any further. You will eventually try to talk to a human being who will, like their colleagues, read you a script. They will reassure they will get it fixed and then proceed to make you do all of the same steps you have done previously all over again... but at least this time, you have a Coach to walk you through the difficult steps of unplugging the base station and plugging it in. As for HelloTech that SimpliSafe pushes on its Customers. They will ask you for your preferred appointment date and time. The site even has a calendar for you to see which days/times are available, you pick the date and it will ask you for 3 preferred times... wonderfully convenient. You will then receive an email confirming the date/time. It is what occurs after your appointment is confirmed. The day of, you will receive an email 5 minutes before they are due to arrive confirming your appointment time but its not the actual time you requested nor confirmed in an email from 3 days prior. When you talk to Customer Service, they will read you a script, tell you it was per your request the time was changed. However, you actually never spoke with them, nor do they understand you wouldnt be calling them upset if in fact you actually had changed the time. This occurred multiple times with this company. Tho it is a separate entity from SimpliSafe, the fact Simplisafe, during the ordering process INCLUDES HelloTech in the purchasing process, they clearly have an integrated relationship, therefore SimpliSafe should be held accountable for HelloTechs business practices. SimpliSafe will have greater impact with HelloTech to treat their customers more professsionaly, simply by discontinuing their relationship if it doesnt improve. However, even the Supervisors at SimpliSafe dont care, they read a script as well, will tell you they will have someone contact you from HelloTech to schedule you a new appointment at your preferred time. When you mention youve had multiple appointments with HelloTech changed by them AFTER your preferred date/time were set and confirmed and ask how it will be any different... be prepared for the scripted response... HelloTech will schedule the installation on your preferred date/time. Basically, neither companys employees actually get the illogical rationale of their own company keeps changing the dates/times after they are confirmed, without the customers knowledge nor consent. Therefore, being told they will set it up based upon your preferred date/time is meaningless.

> 3 daySo I’ve had Simply Safe for years they’re always updating their system. Seems like they would just give you a better one to begin with. But they updated my system and three weeks after that I was broken into. The girl who updated my new control module never updated all my contacts. So my keypads were working. However my door contacts window contacts, motion sensors, glass break sensors were never hooked up when they did the new module. She forgot to push the damn button. Three months later Simply Safe refuses to call me back refuses to pay me for any damages or items stolen from my property. Absolute piss poor customer service every time you call. You talk to the entry-level person on the phone who tells you they will contact their supervisor and get back to you 15 phone calls three months later nobody’s ever gotten back to me. Ask the phone number for their legal department so I could sue them. I was told they don’t have a legal department. What a cluster F There’s a reason why they’re the cheapest alarm system out there. They ain’t worth five dollars

> 3 daySETUP IMPROVEMENTS -Computer no longer needed for adding sensors. -Sensors can be named now. You can easily pick from a common named list or key in the name you want. The old system did have a way to name them, but it was limited to premium plans. -Test buttons can be pushed to add sensors rather than manually typing in serial numbers for each sensor. KEYPAD Keypad setup is the biggest improvement in the system. The old system required a computer setup that utilized a USB fob for programming and transferring the data to the base station. The fob is now gone from the setup. All the setup for the sensors can be done directly from the keypad. The key pad also has an panic button added to the top of it. The keypad doesnt have a touch screen, but it has a button at each side to make for more intuitive user navigation through the prompts. The sensor names now display when they are triggered. The old system only displayed the serial numbers which I found aggravating. This is one of my favorite improvements. SENSORS The sensors are much smaller which I think is important to people. I know I was talking to a guy that bought a competing product a couple years ago instead of the previous version of SimpliSafe solely on the fact that he didnt like the size of the SimpliSafe Sensors. These are a great improvement. BATTERIES -The base station uses A/C power, but has a AA batteries for a backup during power loss. Same as old system. -The keypad uses AA batteries. Same as old system. -Motion Sensor CR123A batteries (camera battery). Same as old system. -Entry sensors use CR2032 batteries (size of Nickel). These used to be CR123A batteries in the old system. This change has allowed the sensors to be much smaller. Im usually able to find these Nickel sized batteries cheaper than the camera batteries which is a nice change as well. Im not sure if there is any loss in the amount of time they will last though.

> 3 dayIf you opt for this system, be prepared to pay a minimum of $15/month for a monitoring service. After years of paying, I decided to just use it as a standalone alarm system. Big mistake. Now, the base station constantly flashes and loudly reminds to sign up for the service. Basically, the system is rendered useless. The next step is to pitch it in the trash.

> 3 dayDurable and well manufactured. Definitely not a cheap piece of equipment. It’s got a great weight to it without being too heavy. Works as intended.

> 3 dayInternet + cell communication, ease of installation, great after install support. I have installed security systems on my own properties about 10 times. This system is so easy to use, it is fabulous. the monitoring is certainly affordable. I love the fact that the wireless sensors identify themselves and can be added so easily.

> 3 dayTheir support does not speak English, and cannot help with any issues that arise. The support emails from them come from one single Dave at simplisafe. After multiple emails, and no one understanding me, I decided to return everything. The physical product has cheap stickers on it, so about half of them fell off after installing them. The camera connects via a USB cord, but does not have a battery, so... if the power is out, so are your cameras...? unbelievable. If youre ok with that and decide to keep the cameras, you cannot record anything unless you sign up for their monthly service. So no, this is not an independent system that will work offline. As others have said: deceptive advertising. All in all a very cheap system with no support. It seems all of their money went into their marketing, packaging, commercials, paid-for-reviews? nothing is put into support, quality products, or innovation.

> 3 daySo far I haven’t had any issues. My only complaint is that the adhesives on some of the entry sensors and particularly the motion sensors are not very strong. I used adhesive strips to install them myself, as they fell down twice.
